ABOUT ME

Why Choose
Memories by Michelle

My love for oral history began while earning my degree in History. I discovered the power of simply sitting with someone and listening as they shared the story of their life. That lesson stayed with me. In 1992, I conducted my first interview with my grandmother, and I have been capturing stories ever since.

Over the years, I have refined my interviewing style into what I like to call a dance. There is give and take, and once a person feels comfortable, I let them lead. I have also learned the value of silence – sometimes the most meaningful details surface only when someone has space to gather their thoughts. Every interview is built on trust, and I treat every story with the deepest respect.

Research is another cornerstone of my work. I grew up in a library, where my grandmother was the local librarian, and later worked at libraries throughout college. That background taught me how to dig deeper, to find sources others miss, and to question information with lack of proof. With a historian’s training, I can add rich context to family trees and oral histories, connecting your loved one’s experiences to the events of that time.

Unlike many companies that rely on AI to write life stories, I do all of my own writing. I spend hours listening, observing and truly getting to know the person I am writing about – and that connection shines through in the final book. I also work with a trusted proofreader who brings a careful human eye to every page, catching details no computer would.

To me, preserving stories is more than a job; it is one of the greatest honors of my life. I see myself as a “story keeper” entrusted with memories so they can be shared long after the storytellers themselves are gone. It is a sacred responsibility I hold dearly.

I would be honored to hear your story — and to create a book that ensures your memories live on with the people you love, for generations to come.
